Dr. Rajendra Kumar

Dr. Rajendra Kumar is a senior government official in India belonging to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (I.A.S.). he has a total of over 18 years of professional experience in progressively senior positions in public policy and administration both at the state and national levels in India.

Currently he is working as the Director (Projects) in the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of Media Lab Asia in New Delhi. NeGD Media Lab Asia is a government company under the control of the Department of Information Technology (DIT) in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. His primary responsibilities include conceptualization, implementation, supervision and monitoring of the National Population Register (NPR) project of the Registrar General of India (RGI) in 17 states and two union territories in India. He is the National Mission Leader of the NPR project on behalf of DIT. The NPR project aims at building a comprehensive database of all residents in India based on the demographic information collected during the census exercise and the biometric information collected as per the guidelines prescribed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

He is also leading a new national initiative in India for formulating a comprehensive policy on mobile governance. The policy on mobile governance aims at ensuring provision of all electronic Government services through mobile devices. We have recently released a Draft Consultation Paper on Mobile Governance Policy Framework for comments and feedback from all the stakeholders and interested citizens.

He is also responsible for appraisal, monitoring, and supervision of various projects under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in the country. NeGP consists of 27 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) at national and state levels.
